Backpack is a tool that lets parents pick the YouTube videos their kids can watch. You — the parent — choose every channel and every video. We don't recommend content, we don't run an algorithm, and we don't mix in anything you haven't approved. By using Backpack you agree these rules.
You must be at least 18 years old to create a Backpack account. Backpack is intended for use by a parent or legal guardian on behalf of children in their care. Kid profiles are accessed inside the app and never own a separate account with us.
One person, one account. You're responsible for keeping your password and parent PIN private.
By using Backpack you agree:
Backpack offers a free trial and one or more paid tiers. The current pricing and trial length are shown at signup and on our pricing page. By subscribing you authorize us (and our payment processor, Stripe) to charge your payment method on the cycle you selected (monthly or annually) until you cancel.
You can cancel any time from your account settings. Cancellation stops future renewals; the current paid period stays active until its expiry. We don't offer prorated refunds for partial periods unless required by your local consumer law.
We may change pricing, but we'll give existing subscribers at least 30 days' notice before any change applies to their renewal.
The videos that play inside Backpack are hosted by YouTube and remain the property of their creators and YouTube. Backpack doesn't copy, redistribute, or modify those videos — we display them via YouTube's official embedded player under YouTube's own terms.
You can't download, redistribute, or sell videos viewed through Backpack. You also can't use Backpack to scrape or automate access to YouTube in ways YouTube doesn't permit.
The data you give us — your kids' names, the videos and channels you curate, your buddy customizations — stays yours. See our Privacy policy for what we collect and how to delete it.
We may suspend or terminate an account if we believe in good faith that the account is being used to violate these Terms, our Acceptable Use Policy, applicable law, or YouTube's terms of service — including curating content that sexualizes minors, depicts violence against children, or otherwise endangers the kids using the account.
We'll tell you why, and (where possible) give you a chance to fix the issue first. For severe violations we may terminate immediately without notice. You can stop using Backpack and delete your account at any time from settings.
Backpack is provided "as is." We work hard to keep it running and accurate, but we don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every YouTube video will play (YouTube can remove or restrict videos at any time, outside our control).
We don't warrant that any specific video is appropriate for your child — that judgement is yours as the parent who curates the playlist.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Backpack and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of your use of the service. Our aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the greater of $50 USD or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
We may update these Terms occasionally to reflect new features or legal requirements. If a change is material, we'll notify you by email or via an in-app notice before it takes effect. Continuing to use Backpack after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising from your use of Backpack will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you and we agree to that exclusive jurisdiction. (If you live somewhere with mandatory consumer-protection law, those rights still apply to you.)
